[Agent K has been here for a little bit, and is settling in pretty quickly. Given all the other weird shit he's encountered in his career having to walk around with a foil lined fedora isn't too strange. That said, despite being used to every brand of pink, purple, and blue fuckery he's not too fond of the idea of some of his thoughts just popping into other people's heads.]

[So, today he's going to check in on the current stash of resort workers to see how people are doing so that he can be overly cautious.]

I figure as non-natives we might be a little more susceptible to this bug goin' around, so I was wondering if anyone brought in by the resort woke up with a hell of hangover and no drinking last night to go with it. I put some tylenol up at the front desk in security if anybody I'm workin' with is having any issues.

That is if you're not allergic, anyway.

Any word on whether it's restricted to intelligent life? Or do you patrollers get to enjoy listening to the thoughts of giant spiders pondering the tastiness of your dissolved flesh as they attack you.

I would think intelligent. I mean, you gotta be capable of thinkin', I guess. I don't really wanna mindmeld with a four-eyed cow any time soon.

It might be better than some of the experiences I've had. But I still wouldn't want to place bets.

They were infesting a computing systems access room that I needed to enter in order to [plant a bug] install some upgrades. It was the only way to get past them safely without shooting them up, since one missed shot might have damaged the equipment. [Not to mention would have been noisy.]

Nah, Sport. I mean the flu kind of bug. A virus. A cold. Though those other bugs are plenty bad enough, too.

I'm sure my touch of throbbing in the head is simply the natural result of getting filled up the back gills the night before and no Jeevesian miracle restorative to offset the effects.

It's a brand name for acetaminophen where I'm from. A type of mild analgesic- er, pain-killer thing that won't get you addicted. Pop a couple of pills every five hours or so with some water and you can keep a headache at bay.

Not really to fight it off, but there's ways to keep from spreading it once you got it. Take some foil, make a cap out of it, put it on your head.

Works for a few things back where I'm from, too.

[He's actually really glad he can talk about it. It's novel. While the secrecy is useful and means he doesn't have to deal with that many people, having to constantly guard what he's saying and bullshitting answers is tiring as hell.]

[Boone is aware of the bug going around, but he hasn't showed any of the symptoms. He's glad for that. He'd wear tinfoil if he had to, but he'd still be paranoid people could hear what he was thinking.]

Not sure what tylenol is, but I don't think I need it. How many people are sick?

It's a painkiller meant to cure little stuff like headaches. Doesn't get you addicted.

It seems like quite a few people have been. And uh... not just humans so you might wanna line your beret. Apparently you can catch it from anybody. [He's seen Boone around enough to know that he wears one.]

[Only not addictive. He might have to look into it anyway. Nobody takes Med-X for a headache, but he's often wished for something like it when he's woken up with an awful hangover.]

...He doesn't want to stay inside too much either, though. He's used to traveling, not sitting around doing nothing. Even when Elle left him back at the Lucky 38 he'd often leave and do his own thing.]

Painkiller. Pretty strong. Addictive, too. Got a lot of people paying after using it to deal with the addiction, so it can get kinda expensive for people who don't have many caps.

[Like the people around Freeside. Boone has the luxury of not having to worry about it because he can afford treatment for addiction too, but he knows a lot of people have to weigh how bad the pain is against the cost of the Med-X itself and the possible side effects.

And yeah, he'd rather not let people hear his thoughts. He's a private person, and he doesn't want people asking about things he doesn't want to talk about.]
