[When Lindir's face appears, he looks a little concerned. That said, being a touch concerned at all times was probably on par for him. Those who listen closely might hear some soft cooing noises in the background.]

I was wondering if I might find someone with the knowledge of how to care for young... tribbles I believe they're called. I came across one of the creatures while in the gardens, but I did not know it was an expectant mother. There are now five.

[Lindir reaches over and lifts one up so that it could be seen by the camera. Holding it now, he actually smiles slightly. It was a soothing creature.]

I had intended on returning the mother to the wild, but I am unsure if that is wise with young ones.

[ She knows he said tribble, but what? ]

What is that?

It looks like something the Props would greatly enjoy. Where did you find such a creature?

I do not think it is a native species. You might wish to have it checked over... the ecosystem here is so fragile.

It is oddly cute for a puff of hair. Have you thought of a name for your new pet?

I think you should keep one. This is the most relaxed I have seen you.[ ]

I fail to see how that creature could be of the wilds here. So it would have to be eradicated or kept as a pet.

This planet is fragile and protected. There is no telling what effect an unknown species such as that will have if it manages to escape into the wild. So long as it remains a pet and properly cared for it should be alright.

I understand how you feel. I just have concerns after the Prop incident for the fragility of the ecosystem here. I'm sure the tablets will have much information about whatever those creatures are. What did you call them Tribbles?
most_feared: please don't use, i paid for these (k - the hell is wrong with you?)

[personal profile] most_feared 2014-09-14 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not real sure, but I think the official stance is to be sure not to feed them too much.

Other than that they'll eat whatever people eat.
most_feared: (k - pensive)

[personal profile] most_feared 2014-09-14 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
It's not ill so much as you're gonna end up with a bunch of baby tribbles. The more they eat, the more they make.

I'm not real sure having two of them is a concern for these guys, not like on this planet [where gender isn't a thing, but still using two people is]. Anyway, they're pretty well known so maybe we can have a look in the library to be sure.

[Narvin wrinkles his nose at the sight, deeply distrustful of anything to do with nature or wild animals.]

Are you sure you should be touching it? It might have parasites.

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2014-09-15 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Small creatures, insects, worms, or various microorganisms usually, that infest animals.
timesbureaucrat: (hey)

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2014-09-16 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
They're small. Difficult to see. Sometimes impossible to see without a microscope, depending on one's species' vision magnification abilities.
timesbureaucrat: (bwh?)

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2014-09-18 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Lindir's comment makes Narvin pause, aghast.]

Your world doesn't have microscopes? They are devices used to see things that would be too small to be seen otherwise.

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2014-09-18 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Mortal?! [Narvin bristles. He has an excess of Gallifreyan pride.]

I'm over a millennium old and I'm only on my second incarnation!

[And likely to be his last incarnation, with all his others having been forcibly ripped away, but that just makes him more irate about being called 'mortal.' It's too close to the uncomfortable truth now.]
timesbureaucrat: (suspicious)

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2014-09-19 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems to be a frequent mistake. If it weren't a frivolous use of time travel, I'd be tempted to go insert a genome for green skin back when they were still swinging in the trees. Our outward appearance might look the same, but internally, my race is nothing like the Terrans...the race of Men.

[Now that that small rant is out of his system...]

Yes, I've died once so far. Died and regenerated. Well, technically, I was just nearly dead. It's a characteristic of my species, when injured beyond healing or close to death, we regenerate, change every part of our bodies and become a new person, but still holding all the memories of the old. One more way in which we are not like humans.
timesbureaucrat: (curious)

np!

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2014-09-22 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Our regeneration is not quite the same as reincarnation or resurrection. If we are fully killed before we regenerate then we stay dead. We do have the capacity to resurrect as well, but it is supposed to be restricted to those who have received approval from the High Council of Time Lords. Gaining such approval is almost always political, and has little to do with who deserves more life or not.

What did Glorfindel do to receive such a gift?
timesbureaucrat: (MI5 Gallifrey)

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2014-09-22 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't tell them that. The politicians on the High Council are full of themselves quite enough as it is.

So Glorfindel's sense of duty to his people was rewarded. [Narvin approves.] The last person the High Council offered a new set of lives to was a criminal and a mass murderer. But he happened to have a skill that they needed. Morality takes second place to getting things done.

[Excuse Wander while his eyes widen as he fawns over the on-screen tribble.]

It's so cute! And those are babies? [It looks smaller than himself!]

They're harmless, right? Can I come over to look after 'em?
folkscallmewander: (let's see...)

[personal profile] folkscallmewander 2014-09-15 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wander doesn't notice that look as he is currently distracted by fuzzy baby animals, as evidenced by his huge grin.]

Their maw jus' lets ya carry 'em? [He lets out a little squeal.]

Maybe we should all take care of the family while the babies grow up! It'll be like the resort's pets!

[Wander calms down at Lindir's explanation that the tribbles are wild animals. As cute as they were, he probably won't be allowed to keep them in his room at the resort.]

I can still help ya look after 'em, right? With all those babies, their momma needs extra help!

[And then maybe he'll befriend one and they can explore the wilderness together!]
folkscallmewander: (you're welcome)

[personal profile] folkscallmewander 2014-09-18 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I'm sorry 'bout that! [He tips in hat, still eyeing the tribble.] I'm Wander, you average space traveler, and I jus' happened to come across this lovely planet and decided to visit!
folkscallmewander: (curious)

[personal profile] folkscallmewander 2014-09-19 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
'Course I do! Travelin' is my life! [Every planets has such different people and locations. Why wouldn't he want to visit as many as he could?]

You should definitely go space travelin' sometime, maybe with one of your friends!
