[When Lindir's face appears, he looks a little concerned. That said, being a touch concerned at all times was probably on par for him. Those who listen closely might hear some soft cooing noises in the background.]
I was wondering if I might find someone with the knowledge of how to care for young... tribbles I believe they're called. I came across one of the creatures while in the gardens, but I did not know it was an expectant mother. There are now five.
[Lindir reaches over and lifts one up so that it could be seen by the camera. Holding it now, he actually smiles slightly. It was a soothing creature.]
I had intended on returning the mother to the wild, but I am unsure if that is wise with young ones.

What is that?

[So no, he doesn't really know what that is either. Lindir looks down at the cooing creature, then back to Tauriel on the screen.]
At least, that is what I could gather from my search for information. They are said to be harmless.

In a garden not far from the resort, but the one I frequent. It seemed... pleasant.

[He pets the fluffball, and it coos soothingly. Lindir looks more relaxed than he usually does.]
However, now that it has children it may be best to wait a while longer.

[Oh but the look on his face says he wants one. They were so soothing.]

[Nuuuu he likes it.]

I would not wish any harm to come to it or it's children.
[Pause.]
I feel I must find out more of it through research. If it is not native to this land I may have to find a way to spare it from such a fate.

Other than that they'll eat whatever people eat.

I would not want them to fall ill from too much food, but I know not how much to give them.

Are you sure you should be touching it? It might have parasites.

Your world doesn't have microscopes? They are devices used to see things that would be too small to be seen otherwise.

[Sorry, Lindir comes from the land of "if an Elf can't see it, it doesn't exist."]

I'm over a millennium old and I'm only on my second incarnation!
[And likely to be his last incarnation, with all his others having been forcibly ripped away, but that just makes him more irate about being called 'mortal.' It's too close to the uncomfortable truth now.]
no subject
Forgive me, I had assumed... as you are not one of the Eldar and look very much of the world of Men.
[In other words, you do not have pointy ears, sir. He doesn't seem particularly startled by the age, but the "incarnation" bit made him curious.]
"Incarnation"? You have lived and died before?
no subject
[Now that that small rant is out of his system...]
Yes, I've died once so far. Died and regenerated. Well, technically, I was just nearly dead. It's a characteristic of my species, when injured beyond healing or close to death, we regenerate, change every part of our bodies and become a new person, but still holding all the memories of the old. One more way in which we are not like humans.
fixed ty so much!
Both reincarnation and re-embodiment are rare among my people, and even if so, they generally continue to reside in the Undying Lands.
To return to Middle-earth is a gift that is seldom given, except to those considered to have made a great sacrifice in their death. There is only one I know of in my time; Glorfindel who resides with me in Imladris.
np!
What did Glorfindel do to receive such a gift?
no subject
Then perhaps your High Council is not so different from the judgement passed by Manwë, the king of the Valar who decides the fate of those who dwell in the Halls of Mandos.
[When he speaks next, it is with a certain fondness for his friend.]
Glorfindel gave his life while defending the survivors of the Gondolin during it's fall. They were ambushed, and among their enemies was a Balrog, one of our darkest banes. He was able to slay the demon, but at the cost of his own life. It was later, when his skill was needed most to aid us in Middle-earth he was allowed to return. It is an honor to know him.

So Glorfindel's sense of duty to his people was rewarded. [Narvin approves.] The last person the High Council offered a new set of lives to was a criminal and a mass murderer. But he happened to have a skill that they needed. Morality takes second place to getting things done.

It's so cute! And those are babies? [It looks smaller than himself!]
They're harmless, right? Can I come over to look after 'em?
video
The... smaller ones are it's offspring, yes.
Video
Their maw jus' lets ya carry 'em? [He lets out a little squeal.]
Maybe we should all take care of the family while the babies grow up! It'll be like the resort's pets!
video
I do not feel that would be wise. They are wild creatures, and I would return them to the garden where I found their mother.
[But something about them had made him want to pick the first one up. It's was a calming creature, and relaxed him to pet and listen to it's coos.]
However, I may wait for a time to make sure that it's children are well suited to go back out of doors.
Video
I can still help ya look after 'em, right? With all those babies, their momma needs extra help!
[And then maybe he'll befriend one and they can explore the wilderness together!]
no subject
He pauses thoughtfully, and slightly unsure. He had never encountered a person like this before.]
...Perhaps we can start with introductions if we are to consider working together... I am Lindir of Imladris. May I ask who you are?

"Space traveler?" Do you routinely visit other worlds?
no subject
You should definitely go space travelin' sometime, maybe with one of your friends!

[And he preferred it that way, really.]

I do not leave it because I do not have the desire to. I am fond of our fountains and flowing streams. I am at peace there.
[Even if they sometimes had strange guests who disturbed that peace, it was only passing.]
