Hey! Are you listening?

[Emilia knocks on the communicator for effect.]

I didn't authorize being recorded in that swamp.

Where are the lawyers around here?

If you took us up on the offer to go out to the swamps, then surveillance was a very open part of the agreement.

Perhaps next time you will hire a lawyer beforehand so that he will read the very simple agreement for you in a way that you might understand.

Then be more intelligent yourself and stay informed terms and conditions. Especially when they are obvious. Not to mention the drones were not exactly inconspicuous.

Excuse me, Mr. Jeffers, she does have a point... especially since some of us may be from worlds where such written things are not... ah, as common. Myself, originally from a place where written words are rarely used, verbal agreements are normal and the good word of a man is paramount. [The blush in her voice is almost painful.] It was very embarrassing...

Lawyers? Why in heavens would you want one of those around? They're far more trouble than the worth of them. I've never met a lawyer I could trust. You'd be better off putting your well-being in the metaphorical hands of a Creeper.

Ah yes, one an ancient profession esteemed by some hominid cultures, the other a group of people who will sell out their morality for money. The latter are, of course, the lawyers.

[Narvin hadn't always had such a poor opinion of lawyers, but Darkel had rather soured him on legal interpreters.]

I hate to agree with him but lawyers have been terrible people in my experience.

[You know, tearing off the hood of his car or car doors and things in fits of jealousy.]

What, do you not think me capable of a sense of humour?

[He absolutely did borrow it.]
