[By the looks of things, Lindir is sitting down in a high backed chair in one of Blackstaff's guest rooms. He says nothing, but continues poking at the screen, furrowing his brows and frowning. As there's a beep from the device, he turns his head to listen to it, then looks back again. He lets out a deep sigh. This was going to be a lot harder than he thought it would be. Why did he ever agree to this?]

[Even house spiders were a problem for Lindir, really.]

[Tauriel was at the lobby waiting for him by the time he showed up. Her bout with the neural flu over and it having more or less finished here in the resort, she was no longer wearing the tinfoil hat. True to being one oft he people who frequented patrol, she was armed with her daggers and her bow with a quiver of arrows strapped to her hip. She was used to walking around like this, but her appearance might be off putting to Lindir and she certainly looked old fashioned among all the tech of the resort.]

Ready for a tour Lindir?

[He greets her with a hand to his heart and a gesture. It was a little surprising to see her so armed, however Lindir knew those of the Woodland Realm had good reason to carry weapons at all times. Although Lindir knew next to nothing of the cultures of mortals, he did take care to be familiar with his own kind, no matter how distant or isolated they might be.]

Yes, indeed. I had been looking for a map of the area when this...

[he holds up the strange communication device.]

...became troublesome.

[She smirks a little unable to help it. She had been just as lost when she first arrived. Thankfully things had been easy enough to figure out with a few, careful pointers from her co-workers. ]

What's wrong with it? Perhaps I can help you and then show you how to draw up a map of the resort.

[He is more than willing to hold out the device to her, and show her his problems with it.]

It returns to the beginning often. I cannot seem to get the image of the map to stay.

[He shows her what he does to get there, and it does, in fact, reset. That might be because he's holding down the reset button with his thumb.]

[She does her best not to laugh, even if it is in good fun as she takes the tablet from him and then makes great pains to hold it here her fingers are not anywhere near the buttons.]

You must hold this machine carefully so as not to touch these buttons accidentally. And you also must be careful what gestures you use when touching this device. ... And this, is how you bring up the map.

[She held it towards him so that he could see as she then began to tap apps on the tablet, drawing up the app. She went slowly letting him watch what it was she was doing and glancing to him every so often just in case he had a question or looked even more confused.]

[He watches carefully, doing his best to understand and wanting to get it right.]

How strange.

[He takes it from her again, this time careful not to touch the buttons she had indicated. He traces a finger over the map in attempt to guide his sight as you would with a book... however, this being a tablet type device the map movies instead.]

Oh... what have I done?

oh, I warned you to watch what gestures you use. [She reached over and pinched her fingers together on the screen so the map zoomed out, making it easier to find where he had taken the map to.] YOu'll learn soon enough the gestures to use.

I see. I'm sorry...

[He watches her, then tries to emulate what she had just done.]

It may take me some time, but I believe I can understand this eventually.

[He looks at the map, and points to a building on it.]

This is Blackstaff, is that right?

No need to be sorry. I do not expect you to understand this so easily. It took me days to figure out how to work this thing to my will.

[She leaned over again and looked down at the tablet then nodded and once more reached down to zoom in by bringing her fingers together against the tablet.]

And that is how you make the image bigger to see more detail.

[He looks thoughtful, taking mental notes of her instructions.]

How strange.

[After another moment of fiddling around with it, he gives the device a rest.]

Maps have their uses, but perhaps I should see the area for myself.

That is a better choice! Come, I shall show you around.I there a place you wish to see first?

Perhaps the gardens? I believe they are nearby.

[Being around nature would probably be calming, even if it wasn't quite like the gardens of home.]

To the gardens then. I think you will take delight in them even if there are different plants to what you are used to.

[She starts walking through the lobby towards the doors to the gardens.]

[He follows her, trusting that a fellow Eldar would not lead him astray.]

Are there any ponds, or perhaps streams?

There is a fish pond and a few fountains... be mindful the fish are not what you are used to here. Do not be alarmed, they are still harmless, I think.

[She hadn't gone poking them to see if they were indeed a threat or not. But they looked like koi fish and lobe finned fish had a baby.]

The gardens are safe as they are well away from the perimeter of the fence. And there are many walk ways that you can go along to become lost among the plants. It is almost as if you are in a small forest.

[He purses his lips thoughtfully.]

There are many strange things here, so what you say does not surprise me. I will be glad to see the fountains, however. The sound of water will remind me of home.

[This was obviously an Elf who did not get out often.]

What are the fountains of Imladris like Lindir? I have not had a chance to see themw ith my own eyes, nor to hear the sweet music they make. The woodland Realm favors things with a more natural appeal.

[He thinks "rustic" might be a better word, but that was the nature of their people. Not that Lindir had any problems with how he'd heard they lived, but he much preferred the artistry of Imladris... and the safety.]

We have many, large and small, and all feed from the Bruinen. They are each unique, and do not look or sound alike to each other. At night, when it is quiet I often take rest out on my balcony where I can hear them singing together in harmony.

Should you get the chance, you must come at once. It is not only the fountains that make Imladris famed for it's artistry.

[The fountains were certainly his favorite, though.]

I would like that, perhaps someday. For now, I feel that my time is best spent here where my skills are essential.

[She slowed her pace now that they were nearing the garden so that they might come to them casually and walk down the many paths together. As they do so, she points out the flora she is familiar with as well as those she just finds aesthetically pleasing. True to being a Silvan elf, she likes trees and oddly enough orchids (an affection she picked up from Thranduil.)]

[That statement gives him pause, and he looks at her curiously.]

Why have you come here, Tauriel? I doubt very much that King Thranduil would simply send one of his people here to relax, if what they say about his temperament holds true.

[Lindir seems more interested in the colorful flowers than the trees, but he listens patiently as she points them out.]

[Tauriel hesitates at answering at first. There was unease between her and her King currently, stemming from her disobeying his orders to return and chasing after dwarves to Lake Town. Eldar did not lie often, but they can obscure the truth and that is what she decides to do, speaking in terms of her hopes in place of facts.]

You're right. I am not here to relax. I am here to learn all I can from this place and perhaps take back what I know with me when my time here is done. My skill with hunting spiders and patrolling boarders makes me invaluable since I can work in the small hours when all the rest usually are asleep.

Then I do not envy you. I am uncertain what use I would be here, other than as a guest. Though I rest easier knowing that one of my kin is part of our defenses. I have no doubt that one who hails from your lands is more than capable.

Have you heard of the term concierge? I believe you would be well suited to the tasks of one.

I have not. What might be the duties required?

[He looks hesitant, though. New things weren't always something he jumped right into, and he was still adjusting.]
