[By the looks of things, Lindir is sitting down in a high backed chair in one of Blackstaff's guest rooms. He says nothing, but continues poking at the screen, furrowing his brows and frowning. As there's a beep from the device, he turns his head to listen to it, then looks back again. He lets out a deep sigh. This was going to be a lot harder than he thought it would be. Why did he ever agree to this?]

[He thinks "rustic" might be a better word, but that was the nature of their people. Not that Lindir had any problems with how he'd heard they lived, but he much preferred the artistry of Imladris... and the safety.]

We have many, large and small, and all feed from the Bruinen. They are each unique, and do not look or sound alike to each other. At night, when it is quiet I often take rest out on my balcony where I can hear them singing together in harmony.

Should you get the chance, you must come at once. It is not only the fountains that make Imladris famed for it's artistry.

[The fountains were certainly his favorite, though.]

I would like that, perhaps someday. For now, I feel that my time is best spent here where my skills are essential.

[She slowed her pace now that they were nearing the garden so that they might come to them casually and walk down the many paths together. As they do so, she points out the flora she is familiar with as well as those she just finds aesthetically pleasing. True to being a Silvan elf, she likes trees and oddly enough orchids (an affection she picked up from Thranduil.)]

[That statement gives him pause, and he looks at her curiously.]

Why have you come here, Tauriel? I doubt very much that King Thranduil would simply send one of his people here to relax, if what they say about his temperament holds true.

[Lindir seems more interested in the colorful flowers than the trees, but he listens patiently as she points them out.]

[Tauriel hesitates at answering at first. There was unease between her and her King currently, stemming from her disobeying his orders to return and chasing after dwarves to Lake Town. Eldar did not lie often, but they can obscure the truth and that is what she decides to do, speaking in terms of her hopes in place of facts.]

You're right. I am not here to relax. I am here to learn all I can from this place and perhaps take back what I know with me when my time here is done. My skill with hunting spiders and patrolling boarders makes me invaluable since I can work in the small hours when all the rest usually are asleep.

Then I do not envy you. I am uncertain what use I would be here, other than as a guest. Though I rest easier knowing that one of my kin is part of our defenses. I have no doubt that one who hails from your lands is more than capable.

[tawarwaith]

Have you heard of the term concierge? I believe you would be well suited to the tasks of one.

I have not. What might be the duties required?

[He looks hesitant, though. New things weren't always something he jumped right into, and he was still adjusting.]

[tawarwaith]

My understanding is limited but it sounds much like a steward. You would see to the needs of the hotel guests and ensure that the staff runs efficiently... I think.

[lindir]

Lindir nods, listening.

"It is something I may consider, but I am concerned about my Lord Elrond's instructions regarding 'enjoying myself.' I am believe the intention was for me to avoid working entirely."

He's frowning a little, though. If he were being honest with himself, trying to force himself to relax in this place was nearly as stressful as the duties of home.

"If I might be so bold... Thus far it does not look as if you are enjoying your time here much. Is it the technology that is off putting to you or the distance from out home?"

He's thoughtful at that, taking a moment before he speaks.

"I cannot say I am comfortable with the devices used here, but I think my uneasiness stems from being away from the valley. I have never traveled so far from it, and never before have I spent so much time away from my own people."

[tawarwaith]

Suddenly Tauriel was glad she had come here when she did. She had nothing against Lindir and hoped that her presence soothed him even if it was only a little, but she was infinitely glad that she had not ended up like him. An insular shut in, hesitant to venture beyond the comforts of what was immediately at hand.

"I'm sure that with some time away you will find your ease here. It might take you some time, but I am sure you will find something to take your mind off Arda. "

"Perhaps," he agrees reluctantly. "I would not wish to disappoint my Lord Elrond."

[tawarwaith]

"The first step is to stop worrying what Lord Erlond thinks. he is not here so there is no need to impress him. A guest, no one will be reporting back to him all that you have said or done either. You are free to do as much or as little as you wish." She smiles to him trying to take any sting out of her words. 'you might surprise yourself once you get over your own fears."

"Do not misunderstand. My Lord Elrond makes very few demands of me. My devotion to him is of my own choosing."

A small sigh, and a rueful smile.

"If you knew me better, you might understand how difficult a task that would be of me. I am aware of my faults, but I cannot escape them."

[tawarwaith]

"That I do not doubt. My loyalties to Thranduil are much the same, in spite of what is said about him. I owe him much for raising me and favoring me as a captain of his guard." she briefly rests a hand on his shoulder. It might be seen as being over familiar to him, but she wishes to convey her understanding of what it is to have faults. Eru know she has enough of her own.

"One step at a time perhaps? I might take you to one of the places I discovered called a bar. There they serve many a varying drink for your consumption. Maybe then you will relax a little."

He very slightly jumps under the touch, but does not shy away.

"I very rarely drink anything other than wine, but I would welcome your company. I am more at ease knowing one of my own kind is here in this world."

Then, he realizes what she had first said, and suddenly he's a bit more nervous around her. "You were raised by King Thranduil?"

Knowing that, her suggestion was not too surprising - wine flowed rather freely in the Woodland Realm, and if rumors were true, even more so at the king's own table.

A soft laugh escapes her, she cannot help it as he reminds her so much of a scared rabbit. This does not make her think any less of him however, as there are all kinds of Eldar and non-combatants can be just as avluable as those who chose to fight. "Do not think anything of it! I was merely a ward within his palace."

"'Merely' is not a word I would use. That is quite an honor, King Thranduil does not seem the sort to take on a ward lightly... that is, if what we in Imladris hear about his temperament is true. I have not met the king, but I have had chance to meet with his son."

She glances away to hide the discomfort his words cause and drops her hand from his arm. Maybe one day she would be better at concealing some of her discomfort over what happened between her and the king.

"It is true that my king does have an ill temper but he does have moments of levity. He raised me as a ward in his care because he saw something in me that he liked."

He wonders at the sudden change in her, but it wasn't polite to pry, so does not question her on it. He does look a little surprised at her comment about the king having moments of levity, but takes her word for it. Whispers from far in the east were nothing compared to the word of the king's ward.

"You say you are a captain of the guard? Perhaps he sensed that potential in you."

"I have hear that said by others before. I do not know if there is truth to it or not, but my king has lived a long time." She does not like to brag about any comparisons that might be made between her and the king, so she instead gestures to the gardens around them. "Is there a particular thing you wish to see here? I could show you my favourite path to walk? there are a few fountains scattered through out it. "

At that he also looks around the garden, following her gesture. "You know the paths here better than I, so I will trust your judgement. If we walk near to fountains all the better."

She gestures down a path with a small smile indicating that would be the one they walk on first as it circles the Koi pond before wandering through an area that is almost japanese-esque in the form of flowers and aesthetics (especially the different varieties of orchid that can be found).

"I think you will find this path most to your liking currently."

"Then I will follow your lead."
