They are very useful machines. Much easier than trying to create an item out of magic. At least, they seem more efficient that way.

I assume they've built larger ones. If they haven't at least tried, they're not nearly as interesting as I thought. Though magic, I read about this phenomenon before arriving here. The locals believe certain energies are magical?

They do. And yes, a little. I use my methods as if magic were no different from home, and my spells work well enough, the difference comes in how tired I am after. I think it... translates into the native energies somehow, and t'would certainly explain the power loss. This universe is strange that way.
