[This man has an accent too, German, but it's nowhere nearly as thick as Niko's Serbian one is. He could speak German and let the translator take care of it, but so far he's met enough "standard" speakers that he can handle himself.]

Hallo, I'm Dr. Visscher [pronounced "Fisher"] and I'm new. I am the sort of new where I have no idea where anything is yet and I keep getting turned around. So if anyone could help me to the clinic when they have a chance I would greatly appreciate it.

Speaking of which, I'm a general practitioner. I'll be working for the resort and town. I am a human, but I've never been to Earth. Any Earth, of any sort. I know there are a few of them out there.

[He wouldn't mind the Elvish. He wouldn't understand it, but he's one of those people that gets excited to encounter almost everything new.] Someone with a sense of direction would prove invaluable right about now.

[Thankfully it didn't take long for her to orient herself with places or thins once she learned her way around them.]

Easily done. Where are you now?

At the resort. I can meet you out front. [Though immediately he's feeling a little shy about it. He's not met anyone in person yet.]

That sounds good. I shall see you there then?

[She smiled a little knowing it was a gesture of friendliness.]

[Visscher waits outside with a briefcase with his gloves in it, wearing a tidy dark gray three piece suit and nicely kept saddle shoes and a slight cringe on half his face. The paralyzed half looks pretty passive still, and even though he's schooling his expression to the best of his ability when he meets her he'll try to put his good side to her when he walks.]

[But he might as well get the first introductions out of the way.]

[Tauriel appeared not long after. she was dressed simply in modern clothing (In this case a white, button up shirt and a pair of jeans) but there was no escaping he fact that she was an elf with the graceful way that she moved. Aside from her ears, the other most noticeable thing about her was her extremely long hair done up for the moment in a series of braids.]

Doctor Visscher? Greetings, I'm Tauriel.

[She asked a little hesitantly, unsure if she was saying the name right. His accent was new to her.]

[He can recognize alien nature when he sees it, and it makes him smile a half-smile as he extends his hand to her and comes up to meet her.] Hallo! It's good to meet you. I'm a little embarrassed for my poor sense of direction. Let's hope I don't wander outside of the fence anytime soon.

[He smooths out the fabric of his suit jacket, trying to make himself an ounce more presentable even if he's already pretty well-dressed as it is.]

[She understood this gesture and took his hand shaking it. Once she had done that she inclined her head in a more elven fashion and then gestured for them to start down the sidewalk towards the clinic.]

I think it is quite alright being disoriented here. This place can be overwhelming to many. When I first arrived I spent hours playing with lights and... other things.

[She does not need to go into details about how many times she flushed the toilet or turned a tap on just to watch cold and hot water flow out.]

If you do wander outside of the fence, I will be sure to find you and bring you back to safety!

Fortunately I've at least learned how light switches work, so I really have no excuse. And I thank you for that. [At that he sounds a little sheepish. It's likely something like that would become necessary if he were to ever find himself threatened. Technically he can defend himself but he would really very much rather wouldn't.]

This is a very nice world, though. A preserve like this- it's a good place to live. Especially for ill patients. Fresh air. Food from unpolluted sources, whether the spawners or naturally grown- [He starts to ramble, gesturing around with his free hand at the resort's gardens and he nearly pokes her in the shoulder, so pulls it back and fails at finding a place to put it besides his pocket.]

[She flashes a quick smile to him before focusing once more on leading him where he wants to go. She is still getting used to modern living with vehicles and such, even if they are on the sidewalk, it is instinctual for her to want to dodge out of the way every time one passes by. None of this shows outwardly though, aside from a slight twitch of her head, or fingers.]

I agree. I find this world to be relaxing most days. Even if the spiders are a problem. It alt least is a problem I am familiar with.

[His actions cause her eyebrows to arch up before she grins just a little more. Rather than mention his odd behavior, she instead focuses on something else.]

Have you traveled around much? You said earlier you were not from any earth, but you look very human.

[The vehicles are at least one thing he's used to. Though while he's not on his bicycle he feels safe enough.]

I hear some of the spiders in the mines have a poison. I would like to focus first on developing a treatment for that- if not a full cure. I like to immediately take on challenges when I reach a new place. [Though sometimes he doesn't accomplish his goals, he at least sets them and tries and leaves something useful behind. That's a benefit, right?]

I have. And yes, I am. I'm from a human colony, established by northern Europeans.

[He rubs his right eye to mask that only one side of his brow raises when he smiles.] I usually don't stay in one place very long. I enjoy the travel.

I know a little of treating spider venom so I might be able to offer to you some help with that. I do not know if it will work with the spiders here unfortunately, it would be good to try at least.

[She glances at him in surprise as he mentions a colony. She had never heard the term before. It sounded interesting and she immediately wished to know more.]

What is a colony? What is it you do in one?

It's just a brand new settlement. [He explains.] The one I lived on was on a planet that was otherwise inhospitable but rich in minerals. We survived because of life support equipment- equipment that failed, unfortunately. But before that it was a lovely place and people got along well.

My parents were scientists there. My father helped with machines and my mother studied plants for medicine. [He does sound very proud on recalling them, though.]

How can you live in a place that is not welcoming? Does that then not make the place dangerous if not impossible to live in?

[She was thinking about Moria and Erebor. Both were rich in materials taken from the earth, and both had very real dangers that infested them.

She doesn't even bother to ask what life support is at this point, because she is pretty certain it will just confuse her.]

Machines I do not know much of, save for what is here at the resort, but plants I have some passing knowledge of... at least the local ones from home that is.

We research inhospitable places to learn from them so that knowledge can be of everyone's benefit. To my parents, it was freedom. They were forbidden to be together by their countries. They were taken to a place where they could both learn and love each other freely.

It sounds like a dangerous and unwelcoming task. How can a child be raised in such harsh conditions, would the risk not be too great? [The idea of a child growing up in a dangerous or unhealthy environment terrifies her. It goes against all her deeply ingrained natural instincts. Enough so that she even looks visibly distressed.

However, when he speaks of forbidden love, she begins to understand a little better.]

Was it truly worth it then, being taken from their homes so they might love?

They were very happy, and most of us were fine. The conditions in the colony itself were good, until the life support failed. And that was because someone sabotaged it. [There's disappointment in his tone, sadness that it happened. He knows why, now, but he's spent so much time being angry all he can do is go back to being sad.]

He motions to the paralyzed side of his face. This happened because of a fever that was improperly treated. The doctor thought it was something else. Not because of the conditions there.

[This confused her as she did not know how a colony could live separate of it's environment so it was something she would look into later after taking the doctor to the clinic. She had no desire to be caught up in the minutiae of his tale just then as he himself was rather fascinating.]
Ah so the colony itself was healthy? What did they hope to gain from harming your people?

[She had noticed that he spoke more with one side of his face than the other. It was a familiar sight as her king's face sometimes like that, but she had thought nothing overmuch of it until he pointed it out. ]

I am sorry to hear of your illness. Is that then why you are a doctor now, to ensure that others are not mistreated [She means misdiagnosed but modern words....] as you were?

[He's a little nervous at that.] Nothing good. No one who would ever do that would want anything good. [Even if Ward claims that she wanted some good out of it, that the ends justified the means, he suffered to reach those ends. He can't ever do the same to anyone else.]

I do want to help the ill and injured, yes. But I thought it would be a good way to deal with my loss- to do my best to ensure no one else would experience it if I could make a difference. [He gives her a little bit of a half smile.] Anger could do very little for me, I think. I don't like to do harm or be the source of it. I can't even stand to eat meat. I'm a vegetarian.

[And he stumbles at the edge of the sidewalk and rights himself quickly. Obviously if he was filled with righteous rage he couldn't do a proper job of vengeance.] You'll have to trust that I'm better with my hands than my sense of direction.

[The fact that someone would do it out of malice or even the idea that it could be justified would have shocked and appalled her. As it was, she just shook her head amazed at the will to harm that others possessed. ]

Your words make sense. Wishing to aide others and to do no harm...but why do you deny yourself sustenance?

[She felt he would get along very well with Lindir as the people of Imladris ate very little meat if at all. She on the other hand loved a good steak or the guilty pleasure of a hamburger.

The moment he stumbled she was ready to offer aide to help catch him, but he righted himself without her help.]

I'm sure of it. Or else I doubt you would have been allowed to become a healer. I myself know a little of healing. Mostly dealing with things that occur within the forests... poisons and sprains.

I don't deny myself sustenance. Humans are perfectly capable of living off plants. Frequently it's even better for us. [He shrugs with one shoulder and gestures around as they walk.] I would even suspect there's enough variety in local plantlife to support one of us.

Poisons? [He asks that too brightly, but it is a valuable thing for a medical professional to be acquainted with.] What sort of poisons?

My people cannot afford the luxury of living off plants alone. Where I am from we do not grow crops or raise livestock, so all that we eat must be foraged for or hunted.

[She might be fine with eating nuts and berries but that diet alone seems so unappetizing without some venison or fish roasting on a fire to go along with it. She can't help but look at him skeptically.

The shift in topic back to her skills breaks her out of her skeptical look as she tilts her head a little to think of how best to describe her knowledge.]

It is mostly things I know of my world, poisons used by orcs to coat their weapons and such... but I am familiar with spider venoms and poisonous plants.

Don't worry, you're not receiving any criticism from me. My food problem is ah... It's my own problem, really. But as it's not much of a problem it probably doesn't make much of a difference.

[Orcs aren't really familiar to him, not even as fairy tales, but spider venoms? ] I would expect the later are very useful here. What do the venoms of the spider's you're accustomed to, do?

I would not thing here no. Not when food is readily and easily come by. You are of course allowed to eat as you will. If my words have caused you any discomfort, please forgive me. I mean only to understand better the cultures of others.

With spiders they have two venoms, but most commonly the venom they employ is one that causes drowsiness and paralysis so that they may consume their prey alive. They can of course kill if it their desire to do so, but then dead prey I imagine is not as appetizing to them.

[She pauses only a moment then glances back to him.]

These are of course the children of Ungoliant I speak of who are large in size. Smaller spiders are another matter entirely.
