Hello, my name is Ashe. [ His accent is heavy, as if he is from somewhere around France.] I have been here a week or so now and have not yet spoken over this strange network. I decided to change that. I really have nothing of interest to share. It is simply bad form not to at least say hello to new neighbors and I seem to have been rude.

[ He is shuffling a deck of cards.] I thought I might ask those who have been here longer where places of interest and things to do between the mundane of the days would be?

Thank you. [ He tipped his head and cut the feed.]

Ooooh. [beat. A bit playfully,] Is that an invitation?

[And then, more genuinely,] I mean... I'd love to see it, but I don't wanna intrude or anything.

I dunno. We don't even have magic where I come from. [........] I think. So it'll be pretty exciting to me, even if you think it's not much to look at.

Where should I meet you?

Yeah, there's this place called Pugsy's. See you there?
quixotically: (perception ♧ carry on carry on)

[Elle hasn't been to Pugsy's very often, but she's lucky enough to be wearing a map on her wrist. She's dressed pretty simply, in a stained pink dress with the King's jacket over it and her usual hat. She beats him there and is already seated at a table, and because of how small she is, she easily blends into the hubbub of the bar.

But that's okay. She's keeping an eye out for Ashe, so that if he doesn't see her first, then she'll stand up and approach to catch his attention.]

[Elle holds up a hand in greeting, returning his smile. The make-up on his face reminds her of raiders, but seeing it in person doesn't bother her any more than she did seeing it on the network feed.]

Nah, it's okay. I grabbed us a table. [She leads the way over to it.] I'm not really one for drinking, and I figured you'd probably want more room than what we'd get at the bar.
quixotically: (smile ♧ uhhhh yeah sure)

[When Ashe pulls the chair out, Elle stands there for a moment, waiting for him to take the seat. Because. That's why he's doing that, right? But after that moment ticks by, realization dawns on her face. She's seen people at the Gourmand do this. That chair's for her... Riiiight. She slides into the chair with a sheepish grin.] Um... Thanks.

[Elle laughs nervously.] Mostly. I think most of that kind of thing went out with the bombs... um. [Awkward pause.] It's not exactly a long story, but it's not really a happy one.

[She doesn't know what to do with her hands. She feels self-conscious, like she should be doing... something. She just leaves her hands where they lay on the table, drumming her fingers lightly out of nerves.]
quixotically: (speech ♧ ehm...)

[personal profile] quixotically 2015-01-21 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... [she says slowly as she considers the spread of cards he's offering.] Where I'm from, the... [Eh. She doesn't think about it for too long before she reaches out and just grabs a card at random.] About two hundred years ago, the world blew itself up. Nuclear war -- The Great War. It, uh... It didn't really last very long. But... Life finds a way, and all that.

[Elle is very good at memorizing things. She's probably going to remember what card she drew for two weeks.

Meanwhile, she's not really sure what to talk about, so she just... rambles.]

The City of Angels... um... Los Angeles, right? [She has to remember the history she's been able to glean through what cultural osmosis she had.] Where I'm from... It's called the Boneyard now. Angel's Boneyard. It's deep in NCR territory. Er... That'd be the New California Republic. [A beat.] There's a group based out of the Boneyard... The Followers of the Apocalypse. Doctors and teachers and scientists and the like, working together to try to make life better for people. They have a university there... I think it's the only one I've ever heard of, after the War.
