What ho, what ho, what ho, guests all!

Back home, I was a writer of sorts, and upon occasion I turned my talents to the aid of my Aunt Dahlia for her magazine, writing fashion tips and the like. Yes, I am the author of "What the Well-Dressed Man is Wearing This Season." And, since the season has changed, I thought to try my hand at it again.

Now that the winter season is upon us, it is time to bundle up warmly, but this is no reason to set fashion aside. On the contrary, the layers and textures of winter clothes allow for great opportunities to display one's haute designs. Aubergine is the colour of the season this year, so you cannot go wrong adding an aubergine hat to your ensemble, or a fine wool aubergine scarf. For the more daring, try a Drazi purple sash. To keep warm on the chilly nights, consider a Creeper-inspired green parka, or, for a sleeker look, a Centauri military-style overcoat. Under all circumstances, do not wear white.

Oh hoh, I may be old, but I'm not that old. It was the seventies.

Can't say I've given fashion much thought these days. I prefer comfortable and a minimum amount of fuss.

[From what Berie would be able to see over the network (if he's looking), Walter is wearing this lovely ensemble.]

[Walter says "seventies" and Bertie thinks 1870s. Except Victorian Regina was still queen then. So Bertie is confused. But Walter also doesn't look 70 years old, so Bertie just chalks it up as one more peculiarity of living on an alien planet.]

A dear friend of mine, Rockmetteller Todd--Rocky--takes much the same view. He's a poet you see, and so is allowed certain allowances in matters of dress. Artistic eccentricity and all that. Only special occasions will entice him out of his pajamas.

I wouldn't dream of working in the lab in my pajamas.

[Walter leans into the video screen conspiratorally and says with a smirk]

I don't even wear anything to bed most of the time. Except in the winter, as it gets wickedly cold in Boston during that time of the year.

[Bertie looks alarmed at that. What if an Aunt in a high dudgeon should come bursting in at the ungodly early hour of nine in the ack emma and discover one naked as Adam? Such a horror scarcely bears thinking about.]

If such is your preferred night clothes it's a good thing that you aren't in the habit--as Rocky is--of popping off to work or entertaining guests in the garb, or lack thereof, of sleep. It would be terribly awkward.

[It's already happened, though Walter wasn't at the lab.]

I'll never understand why everyone is so upset about nudity, at least at home. We're all the same, more or less. My son has grown used to it, though he did tend to yell at me the first dozen times or so. I thought he was more open minded than that.

As I said, it's cold during the winter, and being in the basement, my lab is large and somewhat cool all year around. I keep a cardigan handy. My assistant, Astro, likes the windows open.
