[Well, someone has embraced this tin foil hat thing a little too enthusiastically. That hat is probably the first thing everyone notices about this broadcast. Goddamn, look at that thing. As if he didn't already look ridiculous enough in those robes.
The person who's wearing it -- a man, with a long, well-aged face -- is smiling, all warm and serene and welcoming.]
Greetings. I am Braska, a... mage hailing from the world of Spira. [He almost said summoner. Whoops. That's not the important part of his announcement, here. And, besides. Technically, he used to be a summoner. But all that ended... a while ago.] I am offering my services as a healer to Blackstaff. While it is true that I am an experienced White Mage, I am also skilled in the way of natural remedies -- that is to say, the creation and use of herbal cures. So, if you are not comfortable with magic, then there is an alternative for us to use instead.
I accept many forms of payment, so if you are low on gi -- [gil] money, then, fear not, we may trade instead. "Trade" is a... loose term. I do not speak merely of goods; I'm willing to even accept deeds, such as helping me gather the herbs I need for my remedies. [♥]
That said, this is more than an advertisement. [Braska laughs.] As I said, I am offering my services. Should you feel the need, you may come to me for help with your neuralflu. As you can see, I am well-prepared, [he adjusts his hat, grin widening,] and I would appreciate the opportunity to get a better look at the illness myself. The better acquainted I am with ailments, the better I can aid in easing their symptoms, if not curing them altogether. [He holds up his hands, bowing his head placatingly.] No experimentation needed, if you are uncomfortable with the idea; I merely need to watch, and to study.
Ah, and one last thing. [... and then, right at the end, his professionalism drops, and his smile becomes -- goofy.] Does anyone happen to know where I might purchase some grubs from that advertisement?

That sounds very familiar. A friend of mine came from a very large city, and though he never used those words, the way he talked of it gave a similar impression. A city that never sleeps, he called it...
Difficult for us to imagine, at first, because there are truly only two cities in Spira, and he said it was bigger than even the largest. [There might as well be stars in Braska's eyes. It sounds really cool.]

[Sorry, Braska needs to reel for a moment. Even Bevelle is not so big. Will cities in Spira once again grow to such a size, with Sin no longer plaguing its people? The idea excites him, but it's hard for him to imagine all the same. SO MANY STARS IN HIS EYES]

Ah, of course! Blitzball is a Spiran sport. [Of course not everyone knows what blitzball is. ... gracious. That's the hardest thing yet to wrap his head around, worse than adjusting to the lack of pyreflies.] Ah... It is played underwater, with goals on either end of the sphere... It's quite exciting! It's the most popular sport in Spira.
[... a pause.] It is... the only entertainment we've had, for a very long time. Music is quite popular as well, of course, but, ah... [well.] There's nothing better to help you forget your sorrow, for a little while, at least.

That's right, that's right. Your world, it doesn't have pyreflies, either, does it? I noticed the difference here, as well. Without the concentration of pyreflies in the water , I don't know if blitzball would be possible...

We got fireflies or lightning bugs as they were called where I was from, but I'm guessin' that isn't exactly the same thing.

Pyreflies are... [... how does he explain this?] Proof, I would say, that there is life in everything. When a creature dies, human, animal, or fiend, then pyreflies can be seen leaving the body, if the soul is moving on. They manifest in the form of... colored lights, floating along through the air. It is because of pyreflies that so many things are possible -- magic, for example. In order to cast a spell, we mages harmonize with the pyreflies around us, and direct that energy. Summoners bring pyreflies together to create the aeons, turning the dreams of the fayth into reality. Pyreflies in the water allow for the blitzball players to remain underwater much longer than they would be able to manage here, where there are no pyreflies.
And, to think, these are but a few examples.

Yes... My wife's people hold such a philosophy, as well. [Memories are nice, but that's all they are.
He draws in a deep breath, and then... His smile brightens, suddenly and almost too much.] But as you can imagine, it means that there is much more to a blitzball player than meets the eye. They're not merely athletes; they share more in common with mages than one might initially think. We must both harmonize with our environments in order to make the best use of it. In fact, with the right training, blitzball players can make quite the formidable caster!
It's a pity I'm not a better swimmer. [Braska laughs.]
