It's big.

Busy. I like the food carts and the different people. I like that it's easy to get lost in a crowd. People are loud and keep to themselves at the same time. The buildings are tall.

But you don't get too lost all the time, right?

I'm of the opinion that everything is as complicated as you want to make it. If you want it to be easy to get around, just accept and work with the mistakes you run into when you make a wrong turn, or you just prepare yourself well in the first place.

New York has a lot of subways and a lot of neatly lined up blocks. It usually works pretty well.

You couldn't be more right! We can't always be in control of how things are, but it all depends on how you deal with it. New York sounds like a lovely place to live the way you describe it.

Some of the buildings have up to a hundred floors.

Really?? That big? There must be tons of people living in that! The biggest building I ever seen was a shopping mall!

And that was wider than it was tall!

[That's not to say that he never saw a tall building, just that they never reached one hundred floors.]

I consider myself lucky to have lived most of my life in a place like that.

[He does love the city. And even when he tried the quiet life, his heart missed what it couldn't clearly remember.] Maybe one day you'll get the chance to see something like it.
