[The subject of this video isn't Boone. Instead, it's the outer fence around the village. The only sound for a few moments is of a dog quietly whining, but then Boone speaks.]
Came across this not long ago.
["This" being evidence of some pretty strong explosions happening outside the fence. There are a couple of spider legs just lying around nearby, but nothing else.]
Fence seems fine, but what I wanna know is who or what the hell is blowing things up outside it. You don't need to blow up a spider to kill it.
Not a lot bothers Rex, but he's been doing this ever since we got here. Whining, keeping away from the fence. I've known him to run straight into groups of deathclaws before, so I figure if he's spooked, I probably don't wanna get too close to whatever it is that's spooking him. Saw some shapes moving around through the trees earlier, but I couldn't make out what they were. Tried watching through my scope, but it didn't help. Just... sort of looked like the trees were moving.
[Which is ridiculous really, because he knows the damn trees aren't moving.]
Just figured I'd give everyone a heads up, anyway. Not sure if it's happening in other places yet, but if you see or find out anything let me know.

[Niko pulls out an actual paper map of the area. He's holds it with a crinkle, against his hand, and is finding their location along the fence as they walk.]

[Goofing off? It's the only reason he can think of.]
I don't know what went on around here, but I don't like it. Would've been bad enough without the way Rex was acting up.

It's really strange that there are no tracks back there. [As he watches the ground where they walk, it's still striking him as odd.]

Back home, if people wanted to fight I'd let them get on with it. Not my damn problem. Guess I can't really think like that here.
[Not as part of security, anyway. What's the point in patrolling if you're only going to walk off when people cause trouble?]
I dunno. We've got hovering cars and stuff here, if there aren't any tracks maybe they didn't get away on foot.
no subject
Well, I'm sorry ahead of time, and I'll not put up a fuss whenever you have to arrest me for a fight, ah? In my world all the security is jerks, but you seem like nice guy.
Maybe. But then you think you would be able to see a car.
[He forgot about the hovering vehicles and while he likes the option of keeping a quiet trail, not being able to follow tracks annoys him.]

[As for being a nice guy, well, he can be. At least, he tries to be when it comes to his friends. Some people take his blunt way of speaking as being rude, but it never really bothers him much when they do. Just saves him the hassle of wasting his time on people who can't be spoken to plainly.]
Maybe it was something smaller, but if nobody saw or heard an explosion I'm thinking they could've rode a herd of Bighorners in here and it wouldn't have made any difference. Either nobody saw it happen, or the people who did see are keeping it to themselves. Neither option is all that comforting.

[He's never been very quiet on disliking his father, but he adds (mostly for posterity)-] I wish I had gotten a little more of my mother. The woman has the patience of a saint.
[As for the not talking- he can't promise to bring him information. That would be wrong, But he can try to discourage any stupidity that happens, or try to stop it himself. Though there's an uncomfortable sense of dread from his current position.]
[At least his affiliation is with the warrior group. Boone probably would be less forgiving if he discovered Niko to be helping the Orions, and he doesn't even know what Boone's thoughts are on slavers yet.]

I can usually be pretty patient. Or at least, I like to think I can.
[He knows he can also be reckless and impatient too, though. He always was when it came to the Legion.
He stops a little way up, scanning the area behind the fence before walking again. Rex is acting normal again now, so he doesn't linger for long.]
no subject
That's not the right way to put it.
You get the idea.
[He looks around, still not seeing anything. He finally does see a spider off in the distance, between trunks, and points off there.]
Might have been a spider moving strange that you saw?
no subject
[Sort of.]
Guess you're not wrong, for the most part. Been plenty of things I haven't wanted to stick around for, but I've done it anyway.
[He won't talk about anything he doesn't want to, though. Not unless he absolutely has to.
He looks over at the spider, watches the way it moves, and then shakes his head.]
No. It wasn't a spider. It... I can't explain it any better than saying it looked like the trees were moving. Like whatever was in there knew how to blend in.
[He lifts his rifle and watches the spider through his scope. No... the way it scuttles between the trees is all wrong.]

[Was it a trick of the light? He isn't sure. He knows shadows don't move like that, but trying to recall the scene again he has to wonder if he wasn't just being paranoid. His instincts tell him he saw something that could be important, though. Important enough that he isn't going to give up on the idea of there being something out there.
He shifts the rifle over so Niko can look through it better, but the spider is slowly disappearing through the trees by now.]
