[Once Niko's comfortably back in his home (because he had to check on his beast, which is scarfing food in the background and his big giant hound is sniffing at it like nothing at all was wrong in the past day), Niko decides to let people know he's alive.]

[He's so angry that he flipped Jeffer's network sensor on by accident. So his swears get replaced by madlib holes of hateful silence. He's still dirty, and tired, and looks like he's ready to tear off someone's face.]

What is that ▬▬▬ English saying about death being exaggerated. Yeah. Something like that.

I know a certain traitorous piece of ▬▬▬ I would like a word with, though. Where are you?! You ▬▬▬ coward son of a ▬▬▬! I'm going to find you even if you don't tell me, so might as well make this easy and not make me any more ▬▬▬ off, ▬▬▬.

[He doesn't actually stick around. He's seen turning it off and leaving. He'll be back later. But he's too pissed.]

I will not tell you what to do, but know that this is a small community. It is very difficult to regain trust once it is broken and all know about it, as Belloq will soon find out. Even if you do not punish him, there will be that.

To the alien food place? Sure. I haven't been there.

[Maybe some interesting food will be a distraction from all this shit. He's pissed off, but there's really nothing he can do if he wants to build a new life.]

Her manner of fidgeting might annoy some people; constantly picking at her fingers, her dress, or just playing with a lock of hair sitting on her shoulder. ]

[Niko is grumpy, and dwelling. It's a fault of his. He comes in, still in his usual garb rather than anything especially tidy, and has a seat at the table.]

[The look on his face is probably not the best to set anyone at ease- unfortunately, half of that is just how his face is set.]

A lot of people have said I am. I generally just think they are assholes, but now I am not so sure.

[But she thinks she understands. She pauses a moment, her hands stilling.]

There are a lot of assholes I do not want to be right, but today I have come to consider that they might be, is all. [He puts the menu down.]

Have you had perogies? They have good ones back home.

I do not know what happened, but if Mr. Belloq misled you, I do not think that makes it true. He misled all of us.

[She looks away for a moment, like she is thinking about something in particular.]

Being trusting is not the same thing.

[Clasping her hands together and resting them on the table, she looks back up.]

Perogies? Well, no... I have not had much chance to sample many dishes.

It wasn't that I was trusting, really. It was that he is one of the few intelligent people I have known to treat me as an equal, at least one of those that is formally educated.

But then he turned and took that from. Gave and stole back.

[He doesn't know if he's making much sense though. He doesn't regret trusting, though. He hasn't pushed anyone away, not yet, anyway.]

[Her expression saddens, and she stays quiet for a while. There isn't much she can say to that. She understands all too well, but for such betrayal... there is no amount of comfort that can take the sting, except for time.]

Were his actions honest in the first, Niko?

I don't think that actions of a man such as him are honest at any time. When someone is already deciding the people in their life are expendable.

Then he did not give you anything you did not already possess. Perhaps you just did not know you have it. In that case, it is not gone, only hidden.
