[Tauriel has been pretty busy lately with her various tasks, projects and self imposed duties, so it's been awhile since she actively appeared to talk to anyone on her own terms. Currently she was outside-- possibly on a rooftop as there seems to be nothing but sky behind her.]

I have been studying a great many things lately in an attempt to better understand the world of technology and industry. Unfortunately, I think I have gone as far as I can on my own without some sort of guidance. Even suggestions on what subjects I should focus on will be of help.

There is something else I would also like some assistance with as well, though I think there will be fewer people who can help me. Up until now I have fought using bow and dagger--to great effect, but I am interested in learning other means of combat, such as the use of firearms? There is the tiniest frown as s he says the word "firearms" [It had taken her nearly an hour to come to terms that it was an actual word.] I feel as part of the security team, such skills would be beneficial to have.

I wish to learn because it is another tool for combat. Apparently the range is far greater and can fire several of these bullets at once.

[Plus it was a challenge. Like climbing the building had been.]

I see. I would hope that you take care in your endeavor to learn. The consequences of mistakes made with weaponry are often far greater than in other activities.

[A pause.]

I did not mean to imply that you would not, however.

When have I ever not been careful?

[There is a teasing smile on her end. Even reckless as she can be-- and that was pretty reckless, she still usually manages to maintain some level of control. Plus she was a Silvan elf. Learning to use a gun is a lot more fun than learning history.]

Oh, that reminds me! What is it that you are studying here?

I have not ever known you not to be.

[True enough, despite the outing at the bar, but Lindir couldn't say he knew Tauriel well yet.]

Nothing in particular, though out of my own curiosity I have been wondering about the songs and stories of other peoples. I thought perhaps my Lord Elrond might also wish to know about some of the local healing practices.

[ In other words, he was doing boring stuff. She tries not to let it show, having to remind herself yet again that he is not like her fellow kin and enjoys fun of a different sort.]

You should explore the resort more and see what else there is. After all what better a way to learn of a people's songs and stories than walking among them!

I... feel I have done enough exploring when I spent an evening sampling drinks.

[She barely remembers that night.]

Niko keeps apologizing though.

[Things were a little fuzzy indeed, but Lindir did not like leaving to mystery events that he was present for. What he did remember, however, was not at all to his liking.]

I appreciate that he does so, but the events of that night were not entirely his fault.

[Meaning that it was also partially theirs, but Lindir wasn't going to say that outright.]

I will take care not to repeat my actions that evening.

I just remember having fun. His apologies feel unneeded.

[Tauriel laughs, unable to keep a playful look from her face.]

Is it my sorrow to hear then that you will not take even greater chances in the future?

[The playful look is not entirely lost on Lindir, but he responds as if it was.]

None greater, for certain. I fear I have my limits when it comes to adventuring. I have never been so far from Imladris, and that is adventure enough.

[In other words, he's just experience a setback in any attempts to get him out more.]

I sometimes forget that not all of my kin have the same sense of adventure that many of us do in Mirkwood.

I find that strange to hear, since it is not often your people venture outside the Greenwood.

[His tone isn't mocking at all, simply curious. Calling the forest the Greenwood probably betrays his age a little.]

Am I mistaken? Word from your kin is often slow in coming to Imladris.

Just because our king does not wish us to wander dos not mean we are not adventurous in spirit. We explore our realm freely and take delight in many things.

[But yes, thanks for poking a sore point Lindir.]

[He didn't mean to! Lindir senses that he may have struck a nerve, and tries to diverge the topic.]

Forgive me, I do not know overmuch of Wood Elves. We do not see many of your kin in Imladris. I have, however, had the fortune to have your prince as a guest in the valley recently.

We tend to be removed from outside affairs. Mostly because we have no wish to deal with the world at large.

[That of course does not mean that she is not interested in exploring. Just that policy dictates otherwise.]

Did you? What reason did Legolas have for going there? When last I saw him he and I were chasing Orcs.

[And then she ended up here, whooops.]

My Lord Elrond called forth a council, of which Lord Legolas was in attendance as a representative of your king. I uncertain if I am permitted to say much more, but I can say that it was a matter of great importance to all of Middle-earth.

[He begins to look a bit anxious, recalling the recent events. Knowing the danger that the quest presented to them all was enough to set Lindir over the edge... which is how he ended up here, of course.]

...When you return you may find your prince still away.

How odd, I wonder then if it has anything to do with the Dwarves and their mountain. Did the dragon wake then?

[lindir]

[Lindir looks at her quizzically, trying to understand what she was referring to. Then, when it hits him, he utterly confused. That... couldn't be what she was talking about right?]

...Certainly you do not mean to speak of Thorin Oakensheild and his quest for Erebor? That was some sixty or seventy years past, I must be mistaken.

[Wait, what? Head tilt time. Maybe a little bafflement and a touch of frustration tossed in as well.]

Not for me! When I left to come here that quest was as of yet ongoing!

[lindir]

[Lindir is also becoming more confused himself.]

How strange. I am certain of it!

[Believe him, the memory of the Dwarves coming to Imladris was something he would never forget.]

...Is it not the 3018th years of the Third Age?

No... the year is 2941... Late in the year but still. At least that was the year when I left.

[lindir]

That... cannot be possible.

[Granted, it was easy to startle or confuse Lindir, but this was certainly worth being startled and confused over.]

But Erebor was reclaimed so long ago...

[In Elf reckoning, it was not so long ago after all, but when comparing a discrepancy in time, it was very distinctly in the "not recently" category.]

It was reclaimed? Tell me then what you know about that? This is news to me, news I am eager to hear.

[Because she really wants to know what happened to a certain dwarf.]

[He probably should have stopped to think about if it was wise to tell her these things or not, but Lindir was still too shocked give that any thought. Looking a bit dumbfounded still, he explains.]

From what word reached Imladris, I recall that the dragon caused great damage to the settlement of Men in the area. On the long lake, I believe. It was slain, however there were some conflicts between the Dwarves, Men, and the Wood Elves.

[He frowns. They had been ready to go to battle with each other, which Lindir found rather sad and pointless.]

When the Orcs and Goblins came down from the mountain, it became known at The Battle of Five Armies. Thankfully conflicts and disputes were put aside in favor of driving out that evil.

That had not happened yet... At least not when I left to come here.

[She had been standing before, talking to him as it gave her the freedom to pace and move around, but now she was sitting. Thankfully it was on the edge of the bed she barely ever used and not the floor.

Not that she would have noticed if she had ended up on the floor. ]

What happened after this battle?
