[His message is quick, because he's nervous and new. Visscher came back for the project to rebuild, just in case more of the same misfortunes happened. He doesn't know if it's a good idea or not, but he might as well reintroduce myself.]

Most of the people I knew when I was first around seemed to have departed.

But I am Utrecht Visscher. I am a qualified physician in my universe, and a general practitioner by interstellar standards.

It's a pleasure and I will do my best to assist.

Hey. [Linda smiles at the new man, glad for how friendly he sounds. plus, she knows this place could use doctors right now] I'm Linda Esquivel--I'm on the security patrol. Nice to meet you.

[frontier_doktor]

Nice to meet you as well. [He's very friendly, but sometimes he embarrasses himself slightly.] I never had the chance to meet you before.

[domesheriff]

I must not have been here yet when you were here before. I've only been here a couple months.

[curious, she adds:] Did you go home during the trouble with the spawner? [it seems like a natural assumption to make--that he went home for a while during that business and then decided to come back]

[frontier_doktor]

Unfortunately not. On rare occasions their teleporter malfunctioned and that's when I returned back to where I had been. I decided then to go find another disaster aid service to work with.

[domesheriff]

[Linda is shocked by that explanation] Wait, you mean you were just using the teleporter and it sent you back on its own?

[frontier_doktor]

There was a flaw with the teleporters for some time that some people were returned home, and were difficult to find. From what I understand, that has largely been repaired.

[domesheriff]

Oh. [that explanation is clearly a relief] I hadn't heard about that. Were you home long before they found you again?

[frontier_doktor]

Not really. Because I uh... don't like to stay in one place very long.

I moved on. So if someone did come after me where I was, they wouldn't have found me.

[domesheriff]

Got it. Disaster aid, you said? [she can't really imagine that sort of lifestyle. coming here has been the first time she's been uprooted in her life] This place has been in need of that lately, but things are getting better again.

[frontier_doktor]

That and places that are in need of regular medical care. From what I saw of the medicine shortages, I thought my services could be of use.

[domesheriff]

[she makes a face, nodding] You're not wrong there. [hopeful, she adds:] Were you able to bring anything with you? I mean, not that having another doctor here isn't help enough, but it sounds like they are really short on medicine.

[frontier_doktor]

Not much, no. I am going to have to rely on my ability to use plants for it. It may seem like nonsense but I do genuinely only use the ones proven to work. And even they might not be much.

[domesheriff]

Plants? That sounds useful. [she doubts there are many people on her world with that sort of knowledge off-hand these days. it's the sort of thing Chester's Mill could really use right now, whatwith its stock of medicine already so depleted. maybe Mrs. Moore could have been saved with the help of someone like Visscher, so it's not hard for her to imagine his skills saving lives here, too]

But are many of the plants here similar to what there is where you're from?

[frontier_doktor]

I brought some seeds and small samples. It's not much, but I hear there are ways to make plants grow more quickly in this place.

[domesheriff]

[she's surprised by his foresight, but she supposes if she'd already been here once, it would be easier to think of things like that. still, she's appreciative on behalf of the people she can imagine him helping]

That was really thoughtful of you. I bet a lot of people are going to be grateful.

[frontier_doktor]

I'm not really worried about it. [He admits.] I just want to help. I'm not a fighter, but I'm good at cleaning up messes.

[He doesn't like to hurt people in general.]

[domesheriff]

Still, that doesn't make you less important. Fighters can't do their part without doctors around to help, too.

[because Linda knows firsthand how badly Chester's Mill could use a doctor right now. she might be able to fight, but she's very lucky she survived the meningitis outbreak to even be here]

[frontier_doktor]

That is generally my thought, though it is disappointing how often that it is not shared.

[domesheriff]

Well, you just focus on doing your job. If people can't see they should be grateful for that? It's their problem.
