[video] backdated to the 17th
Okay, it should be on, so --
[The video starts with a close-up of the lower part of a face. But then, Elle leans back, and the rest of her face comes into view. She grins.]
Awesome! Man, this is cool. Er -- Hi! I just got here today. Name's Elle, Elle Days, I recently signed on as a guide, so I've got training starting pretty soon, but I wanted to try this thing out. [She holds up a hand and wiggles her fingers in a wave, her smile widening.] So, uh. Hi.
I guess I could say a few things about myself? Sure, alright. Um... Back home, I do work as a courier. Which, really, means I do a little bit of everything, not just delivering mail or whatever. Running, gunning, exploring, throwing rocks at deathclaws... Getting into trouble. That sort of thing. Uh... I live in a casino-slash-skyscraper thing with my friends. Anddd... My favorite drink is Nuka-Cola. Um.
[There's a beeping noise. Elle glances to her left, and her grin is back.] Right! And I didn't come alone. I brought a friend along for the ride. [She adjusts her communicator so that a robot comes into view.] This is ED-E. ["Eddie."] He's what we call an eyebot. He's like a floating radio with lasers. And, a few other nifty tricks. Say hi, buddy.
[The robot bounces in the air and makes more beeping noises, cheerful this time.]
Oh! [The feed refocuses on Elle again. She leans in closer.] And, uh. Boone? Are you watching this, too? This is where you ran off to, right? [She smiles sheepishly.] Sorry to crash the party. But, they offered, and, I mean, d'you really think I would've said no? [Cue nervous laughter.]
Anyway, uh. I look forward to meeting all of you! Thanks. Um. Now to stop the...

[He mostly just does his job and then drink or wander around when he has free time.]
Did look around the desert a little, too. Wanted to know if it was like home.
no subject
What's your verdict?
no subject
[He squints up at a point above the communicator.]
Almost there.
no subject
[Oooh. Almost time. Elle looks around her to make sure there isn't anything she needs to clean up before she heads out, but no, she hasn't really unpacked yet, so she'll just be able to grab her bag and go. Her hat, though! She took her hat off. She picks it up and plants it on her head.]
Well, I'm all set and ready to go for when you get here.
no subject
[If anyone was going to find another temple, it would probably be Elle. He heads inside the resort to find her, and when he spots her he turns the communicator off and waves. Rex goes bounding over to her, happy to see her again. Boone doesn't quite do the same, but he does wander over with a faint smile.]
Hey.
no subject
(Well, if Boone didn't plant the idea in her head, she would've come up with it on her own eventually anyway.)
She watches the background of Boone's communicator change to the lobby and she looks up, even before he turns his communicator off. ED-E lets out his signature series of happy beeping and bounces, because armless robots can't exactly wave hello. Elle slides off the couch she was sitting on to put her knees on the floor to greet Rex, laughing as he licks her face and ruffles the fur on his neck.] Hi, there, Rexie! Whozzagoodboy? Yeah, you are!
[Elle is beaming when she looks up at Boone.] Hey. [It takes her a moment to wrestle Rex back off of her so she can stand. ........ it's probably a surprise to no one that she wants to hug him, but because it's him, she hesitates, weighing whether or not it's a good idea. But he's obviously in a good mood, and she hasn't seen him in months, so, screw it, she's gonna step forward (and around Rex) to reach for a low hug.] It's so good to see you, Boone.
no subject
It's been a while since he's seen Elle, and as much as he isn't usually up for physical contact he thinks this should probably be an exception. Besides, Elle is one of the few people he's gotten used to touching, and he doesn't mind it so much from her.]
Yeah, you too.
no subject
[On a whole, the group isn't really the best at openly talking about Feelings. That's pretty much been Elle's job, one that she's happy to do, and one that means that it's especially up to her to convey this, even with her being the only one here.]
I'm so happy that you're doing good for yourself here.
no subject
[Feelings are most definitely not something Boone is good at expressing, but he did miss Elle and he does miss everyone else.]
Still kinda strange. Being here.
[He stuck around Vegas mostly because it was Carla's favourite place, and leaving almost felt like leaving her behind, too. And although he's no longer there, he still wonders what she would have thought of the resort here. It's not Vegas, but it's not Novac either.]
Wanna go back and visit sometime. Not sure when, but...
[He's making a life for himself here, but he can't let go of Vegas just yet. He still wants to see it again.]
no subject
She tilts her head.] You've been liking it okay, even with it being weird? [She hasn't actually asked that yet. It's been implied, but it's not a bad idea to ask for sure. To know for sure.]
no subject
[He steps back, and waits for Elle to start walking so they can head back to see the cats.]
Should probably warn you, my cat is kinda protective over Niko's right now. Mine's the black one. He won't really hurt you, but...
[Boone takes off a glove and shows Elle the faint scratches on it. None are all that deep, and they didn't really hurt, but he gets the feeling he'll be wearing gloves a lot while petting Snazzy all the same.]
no subject
She peers down at Boone's hand, blinking at the scratches there. Well, they could be a lot worse. She ends up grinning.] I can't really blame him. I'll be sure to be on my best behavior. [With that, she puffs up her chest a bit, as if that's a grand achievement somehow.]
So, what're their names?
no subject
I just call Niko's cat Snazzy. Can't say her real name. And... I guess I didn't name mine yet.
[He's just been calling it "cat", though it's technically a beast here.]
Not really good with names.
no subject
D'you want help with it? I'm sure I could come up with something you'll both like... I mean, I named Roxie, and she seems to like it okay. [Elle, you named her "Roxie" because it's one letter off of "Rexie."]
no subject
[So calling the less fluffy cat Fluffy would just seem weird.]
Guess I've gotta name him at some point. Sure.
[When they get back to his house, he opens the door and looks around for the beasts. He finds they've moved since he left the house, and now they're lying in Rex's bed. Snazzy meows at them happily enough, but Boone's cat just blinks at them with his four eyes and then turns his head away.]
He's friendly sometimes. Not like Snazzy, but if he wants you to pet him he'll come over.
[He doesn't seem to want attention right now, though. Boone goes over to them and bends down anyway, tickling behind Snazzy's ears. Although the black cat stares at his hand as if debating whether or not he wants to swipe at it, the other one purrs loudly.]
no subject
And stares.
Because.
Oh my god???
They're so cute???????????????
Ohhhhhhhgoddddddddddd.
Elle just stands there with her hands on her cheeks for a moment. The cuteness of the situation intensifies as Boone goes over and pets the kitty's ears.
She really has to take a moment to just. y'know. breathe. So she doesn't hit the roof. (Instead, she just kind of squeaks.)
After said moment, she slowly follows after Boone, lowering herself down to sit on the floor on her legs. She doesn't reach out for them yet; she wants to see if they'll accept her being even this close before she tries anything like that.]
Hey, there, sweeties, [she coos. You can thank Lily for all of the pet names Elle uses.]
no subject
Hey, no. Stop that.
[He talks to the beast as if it were a small child. It just stares up at him, paw ready to swipe again. Eventually the paw gets lowered, but Boone decides not to annoy him any more and goes back to rubbing Snazzy's head.]
Like I said. Kinda protective.
[He doesn't blame him, though. He knows the feeling well enough. He's just trying to keep his family safe.]
no subject
The momma seems friendly enough, but Elle doesn't wanna make the dad mistake her reaching out to pet as a hostile move, so she continues to keep her hands to herself for now. Despite that, though, Elle's smile doesn't shrink or dim in the slightest.
She speaks directly to Boone's cat.] It's alright, dearie. We're not here to hurt the baby. I just wanted to meet you. Is that okay?
no subject
You can pet her if you want. Sometimes he won't even let you do that, but I guess he's okay with it right now.
[He moves out of the way so Elle can get closer.]
no subject
She slides herself a bit along the floor so that she can reach Niko's cat more easily. She reaches out to let the kitty sniff her fingers first, but if she's given the approval, then she'll scritch at the top of her head.]
no subject
So... what would you call him?
[Y'know, since he can't really call it "asshole cat" forever.]
no subject
Hmmmm... [Elle's petting slows down as she thinks. Well... She thinks that it'd be nice if his name matched Snazzy's somehow. She knows that "Snazzy" isn't her full name, but it's what she has to work off of right now. So... words like snazzy...
Ding.] Oh, I know. You know, there's this phrase, I heard it once at the Tops -- "snazzy jazzy"? [She starts to grin again, because it's kind of stupid, and it's contrary to the cat's personality. But she also thinks that's what's charming about it.]
no subject
[He says it so flatly that it almost sounds ridiculous coming from him. Then he looks at the black cat.]
You think Jazzy would work?
no subject
Yeah! I think it's cute. [She looks to the cat in question.] What do you think, huh? Does Jazzy sound okay to you?
no subject
Okay, sure.
[He's sure the beast will never respond to it, but it's better than what he had.]
Snazzy and Jazzy. Huh. Gotta wonder what their kid will be called.
