[Tauriel has been pretty busy lately with her various tasks, projects and self imposed duties, so it's been awhile since she actively appeared to talk to anyone on her own terms. Currently she was outside-- possibly on a rooftop as there seems to be nothing but sky behind her.]
I have been studying a great many things lately in an attempt to better understand the world of technology and industry. Unfortunately, I think I have gone as far as I can on my own without some sort of guidance. Even suggestions on what subjects I should focus on will be of help.
There is something else I would also like some assistance with as well, though I think there will be fewer people who can help me. Up until now I have fought using bow and dagger--to great effect, but I am interested in learning other means of combat, such as the use of firearms? There is the tiniest frown as s he says the word "firearms" [It had taken her nearly an hour to come to terms that it was an actual word.] I feel as part of the security team, such skills would be beneficial to have.

[There's the sound of him moving around, a dog barking, and Boone mumbling to it. "Yeah yeah, you're coming too." Then there's the sound of a door closing.]
Meet me by the security station. I'll head there now.

[With that she ends the message and begins to climb down from the building she is on.]
sorry if any of this is wrong/vague i had to look it up
Before we actually start practicing, there's some stuff I'm gonna have to go over with you. Pretty simple stuff, but it's important. First off, you don't ever wanna point your weapon at something you're not prepared to shoot. Doesn't matter if you think it's not loaded. You just don't do it. You keep it pointed so that if it goes off, it's not gonna hurt anyone.
Second, keep your finger off the trigger unless you're gonna shoot. That includes when you're picking it up or taking it off someone else. Means you're not gonna go firing it accidentally. You'd be surprised how many accidents happen that way, especially when you're not paying attention to the first rule.
Third, you always treat the weapon like it's loaded, even if you know it's not. This one's not loaded, I already made sure of that, but I'm gonna keep it pointed away from you and Rex anyway.
[He goes on to show Tauriel how to tell that the gun is unloaded, and then he gives her the basics on how the gun actually works. He takes a bullet from the magazine and talks through that with her and lets her know how to tell which kind to use, and then he finally hands it to her- still with the magazine in his hand. He's done a lot of talking for a quiet guy, but when it's to do with using a weapon properly he doesn't think he should skip out on information. He'll teach her how to hold it and shoot properly soon, but for now it's more so she can get a feel for how heavy the gun is.]
that is a-okay for me o/
So she took the gun with great reverence and caution testing the weight and balance, mindful to point it away from Boone and Rex (as well as herself). She does point the gun, standing as she might with a bow-- with one leg before the other and aiming only with one hand. This again is done without pointing it at anyone, and with her finger firmly off the trigger.
Satisfied she offered the gun back to Boone, suddenly a lot less enthusiastic about shooting it, and properly intimidated.]
This will take time to get used to. It is far different in weight and balance to that of my bow.

Yeah, it'll take some time. Not expecting you to be perfect in the first day or anything. You shouldn't stand like that with it, though.
[Setting the magazine down for a moment, Boone stands with his feet about shoulder width apart and holds the gun with both hands, his arms out straight.]
Whenever you fire this, it'll kick. That's cause when the bullet is fired, the force that's pushing it forward is also pushing your weapon back. That's the recoil. Some weapons kick harder than others. You wanna get into a position that'll let you absorb it properly, or you're gonna miss. You should be holding the gun fairly tight, too. Like this.
[He moves over to her and shows her how and where his hands are positioned.]
It'll probably surprise you a little when you first start shooting, but you should get used to it after a while. If you're holding it properly, your arms will probably just jerk upwards a little. Might sting your hand too, but it's not really all that painful. Like I said, it's just surprising.

Thankfully positioning her hands is easier than the stance as her fingers are nimble enough to move into the correct way of holding it. So now she had the stance and the way to hold the gun and was feeling a little more confident, but still wary of firing. This "kick" he was describing sounded unpleasant.]
Alright then. Is there any other trick I should know about, and is it much like a bow where you sight your target to fire?
