thumbsdown: (let's get out of here)

[He takes the gun back and nods. It's good that Tauriel is a little intimidated by the weapon. It means she's more likely to handle it properly and not get careless.]

Yeah, it'll take some time. Not expecting you to be perfect in the first day or anything. You shouldn't stand like that with it, though.

[Setting the magazine down for a moment, Boone stands with his feet about shoulder width apart and holds the gun with both hands, his arms out straight.]

Whenever you fire this, it'll kick. That's cause when the bullet is fired, the force that's pushing it forward is also pushing your weapon back. That's the recoil. Some weapons kick harder than others. You wanna get into a position that'll let you absorb it properly, or you're gonna miss. You should be holding the gun fairly tight, too. Like this.

[He moves over to her and shows her how and where his hands are positioned.]

It'll probably surprise you a little when you first start shooting, but you should get used to it after a while. If you're holding it properly, your arms will probably just jerk upwards a little. Might sting your hand too, but it's not really all that painful. Like I said, it's just surprising.
