News for M7 D10 ![]() Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. [Jeffers voice is measured and serious as he recites the newscast.] This is headline news: The strange shapes that were reported outside the fence prior to and during the Blackmoon celebrations have at last been identified. They are what scientists tentatively believe is a native species, well adapted to blend into their forest habitat. Although an official name has not yet been given, they are colloquially being called "creepers" for their silent scurrying gait. They are extremely dangerous and all guests are advised to be on alert and it is recommended that guests do not go beyond the fence unless accompanied by a qualified guide or patrol. If you should find a creeper creeping your way, do not panic but swiftly put some distance between yourself and the creature. Tours of the ruins are cancelled until further notice, but the museum will remain open to visitors. Unsurprisingly, this has actually led to a spike in tourism among scientific experts and those simply the curious wondering what all the fuss is about. Caution signs will be posted about all gates to Blackway's protective fence, as well as a reminder that if the fence is breached that people should retreat to the resort and its shielding for safety. In other news, a recently docked ship has brought in some unwelcome visitors to Blackway. "Props", a species of small, non-sentient shape-shifting amphibious creatures known for their tendency to tear at cloth fibers for nest making, have been reported around Blackway. Props are extremely difficult to detect as they often replicate small objects found in someone's living space, and their presence goes unnoticed. Signs of a prop infestation are large holes in carpeting, clothing, bedding, and even waking up to hair, feather, or fur pulling. (Hair is also a good source of prop nesting material.) If you try to touch a prop it will attempt to escape. Currently, few sightings have been reported, but experts say where there is one there is usually more, and citizens are expected to be on the look-out for further signs. If numbers become unmanageable, the bounty on spiders will be extended to props. [And then it lightens up again.] Now a word from our sponsor. In science news, a skeleton has been discovered in the ruins, but investigation suggests that the skeleton isn't any ordinary sort of remains. The skeleton is a "Carbon Android", a machine made with what must have been a simple intelligence and a limited lifespan. The only access to the android's wiring was through cutting into the actual skeleton, and the wiring resembles actual nerves. It is possible that the original species that inhabited the planet modeled these machines after themselves, but how they created them is still a mystery as spawner technology this complicated has yet to be discovered. If anyone would like to direct questions to the discovery team, the resort will forward them accordingly. Little to nothing is currently known about the current Creeper issue, but it has the scientific community across the galaxy abuzz. While the Arachnids of Klendathu have made it obvious that living things containing volatile and explosive chemicals is not a new development, these are the first appearance of anything like the Creepers. One current theory is that they are an evolved virus that infects planets, and they could be the source of the original civilization's population. Once in depth scans are taken of their physiology, scientists are hoping to get to the bottom of the mystery. However, the volatile nature of the animals has made this extremely difficult. Famous comedian Bucky T'liklik is planning a trip to the resort for televised special. Bucky has come under some scrutiny lately due to their wild partying, rude humor and abrasive jokes against gendered species, and controversial statements concerning the revealing nature of some traditional Vulcan clothing. The comedian's decision to come during the conference has raised eyebrows, and critics are accusing them of trying to provoke anger in political officials as a publicity stunt to help promote their next tour. For those interested in attending tickets for Bucky's show are on sale through Blackway's network's site and resort retailers. |
