And now it is time for the news...:

The Zombie Menace
➥The dilemma at the forefront of everyone's minds is the current zombie infestation. While Blackway has come to successfully manage numbers in the past months, protecting townspeople who have been infected has become a serious issue.

The first serious problem is the damaging effects that come with sunlight. Once a townsperson is infected, they are prone to combustion when allowed to step outside into direct light. Rainy weather has become a welcome event as it prevents those infected from bursting into flames and allows for some recovery time. When the winter season comes in full force, scientists warn snow will not have the same effect as mountain zombies have been shown to be prone to daylight. It is important to note that, once infected, a zombie villager will have no sense of self-preservation and should be handled with both care and caution.

Though not all citizens have been eager to save their brethren. Despite expert claims that a cure might be possible, many citizens have taken to killing infected citizens. Because of this, Blackstaff and Blackway have joined security efforts. Zombies may be brought to the resort and provided containment rooms, and those caught killing zombies when they're not personally threatened will be charged with manslaughter and sent to jail.

Please keep in mind, zombie villagers look notably different from the spawner zombies. The infection seems to be capable of spreading to most species and even some artificial life forms. While it is preferred that all measures are taken to contain rather than kill infected villagers, they are to be treated as extremely dangerous. They are insatiably hungry and stronger than they were in life. Citizens are being asked to invest in sturdy doors.

Quarantine Lifted
➥In the world of politics, the previous quarantine has actually become more lax in light of recent events. Supplies and support from all over has come pouring in to save the town, including an abundence of medical supplies. After the shortage during the quarantine, the clinic is immensely grateful.

To prevent the spread of the zombie outbreak, customs has become extremely strict and security has been asked to frequently screen villagers. While this has prevented many more infections and placed property damage at a minimum, there have been several complaints about the extended wait times prior to travel and the length of screening lines.

Outside contributors have also offered their best efforts to provide for any imports that are called in to provide assistance.

Safety concerns have been raised, but town business owners and long-time residents have pointed out that they have fended off and recovered from serious disasters and threats for some time now, ranging from spiders to creepers to skeletons. This will be as manageable as any other situation, especially with the outside assistance and the strange tourist potential in observing mindless shambling hordes in their native habitat.

Orion Efforts
➥The Orions have been staking out areas around known spawners and taking the newly produced zombies to sell as soldiers and biological weapons. They have also been rounding up infected townspeople with claims that they're taking them to a containment area, when they're actually creating stockpiles to sell as slaves once a cure is discovered.

There have been rumors that the Orions have been taking both zombies and zombie villagers to possibly use for sales. It is well known that the Orions are notorious slavers, but the possibility of zombie spawners has opened a new business opportunity for them, one that has townspeople worried.

It also seems that some citizens are being returned. Authorities theorize that the Blood Pack, formerly a violent and exclusive group that has since been usurped by a different leader, has taken to defending citizens and also looting the Orions of their profits. The Black Sun has pulled back to a purely defensive role outside of the village as there are claims that the leader has the key to a cure for the infection. Contact with this leader has not been successfully established, and detectives theorize they have gone into hiding to avoid the Orions.

Currently security forces are being asked to destroy all spawners and citizens are asked to be vigilant and report all criminal activity.

Ladies and gentlemen and others, robots and augments, cybernetic lifeforms and entities of all sorts, if I may please have your attention for just a moment, we at the Blackstaff Resort need your assistance.

Our lovely little town is under threat of attack, but with your help we can both prevent further harm. These artificially spawned creatures could be described as zombies, and unfortunately they are infectious to the indigenous populations of this universe. You brave souls have the great fortune of being immune to their bites. Therefore, your assistance would be most invaluable in this endeavour. You could potentially save the poor citizens who have already been bitten and succumbed to the illness, return them to their healthy state, as well as the ones still attempting to lead normal lives.

In return for your service, if you should volunteer, we will finance your room and board throughout your stay. Moreover, we will arrange for a specific request to be granted at the end of your contract. Should you wish to go to a universe where your parents still live, should you wish a custom home built to your specifications, should you wish to meet your favorite famous personality (current or historical), we will arrange any of this for you. So valuable to us are your efforts.

Please speak to a travel agent if you might be interested, and thank you for listening.

Zombie Spawner
➥The recently discovered zombie spawner has the scientific community very interested in what it originally might have been intended for, and many expeditions into the ruins have been proposed. Rewards and grants for participating in these expeditions have exceeded what any were previously. Experts theorize that, if unravelled, the spawners could give clues on how to defeat major diseases.

Resident researcher Hans Zarkov claims that it's very possible that the spawners were originally intended to rebuild people, a way of cloning in case someone died.

[And then a scruffy, intense looking professor is shown speaking. Behind him is a sealed-off spawner room, with a window so that there are zombies spawning within it in view. He doesn't seem particularly bothered- they've been researching there for a while.] "There is the possibility that there may still be a fully-functioning resurrection spawner in the wild." [He says in a thick German accent, jamming his hands in his pockets.] "Think of it. To some people here, some that are facing the wild, death itself may not be a problem in this place."

"If found, this spawner may be another alternative to fix those that are infected and do not survive by recreating them as they were before the infection took them. It would be a terrible device to exploit, and we would not want it to fall into the wrong hands. But I believe if found by the right people, it could do much more good. Technology and discovery should not be viewed as villains when they are also what can save us."

It is warned that any spawner searches are to be considered extremely hazardous. Any venture into the caves or ruins must include either a guide or security officer, and all people venturing outside of the village are warned to return before night.
