[His message is quick, because he's nervous and new. Visscher came back for the project to rebuild, just in case more of the same misfortunes happened. He doesn't know if it's a good idea or not, but he might as well reintroduce myself.]

Most of the people I knew when I was first around seemed to have departed.

But I am Utrecht Visscher. I am a qualified physician in my universe, and a general practitioner by interstellar standards.

It's a pleasure and I will do my best to assist.

Plants? That sounds useful. [she doubts there are many people on her world with that sort of knowledge off-hand these days. it's the sort of thing Chester's Mill could really use right now, whatwith its stock of medicine already so depleted. maybe Mrs. Moore could have been saved with the help of someone like Visscher, so it's not hard for her to imagine his skills saving lives here, too]

But are many of the plants here similar to what there is where you're from?

I brought some seeds and small samples. It's not much, but I hear there are ways to make plants grow more quickly in this place.

Oh no, not yet. I'm still helpin' him get used to me sittin' on top of him. Wriggles is super slippery, so I best be gettin' to saddlin' him soon!

[Wriggles, in the meantime, rolls over to rest on his side.] He's tired now, that's all.

[frontier_doktor]

[He can not see the caution tape.] Certainly. I will be happy to try it.

[And pretend that he likes it.]

I barely remember them, to be honest. They left me a good-bye message, and I recall them being very affectionate.

It's been quite a while now.

[frontier_doktor]

Do you want me to check on him? I could download an average health range for his species and do a scan. See if he will be fine.

[Perhaps it's Visscher being overcautious, but he likes to be sure.]

[Just hope she doesn't try to cook haggis.]

Do you think we could get others to come?

Could you? That'd be great!

[He heads over to Wriggles and pets its head.] The doctor's gonna give you a checkup now, alright? Jus' sit tight for a moment.

[frontier_doktor]

[Oh yeah, there is that one giant stipulation.]

I am a vegitarian, by the way. So if you need any meat I can find you the equivalent. Space, thankfully, gives you a lot of options.

[Vegetarian haggis. There's a challenge.]

I have not cooked for a vegetarian before... that is the one where eggs and milk is acceptable, but not fish or meat?

[It's a strange concept for her no matter how you slice it when animals had been always been necessary to survive, and the Grail knowledge didn't seem to help much except give a vague idea of what it was.]

The people who raised you afterwards, they were good people then? They took good care of you?

[Niles has seen people who have taken in children not their own and raise them like their own sons and daughters. But he's also seen people take in orphaned children and take advantage, keep them as servants or sell them as slaves.]

Yes, that's the one. I don't mind eating their milk and eggs but I don't particularly enjoy killing things for food. [But he's a guy that's very used to getting the most out of very little, he knows, and doesn't judge other people on it. Especially since now he has an edge that he didn't have before.]

Some of them.

[It depends on how you defined "good".] I went to several places. If anything, I learned good work.

I see. I will enjoy trying this challenge!

[And it was something to look forward to, a motivation.]

[He runs the scanner over the grub, who, luckily, is just tired. He guesses they did have a very busy day.]

You're right, he's just exhausted. There's nothing very wrong. I would wager he could soon use some food.

[folkscallmewander]

Got it. [He nods and runs over to the outside of the stall to an opened bag of grub feed.]

How long do ya think he needs to rest, Doctor? [He asks as he dips a bucket into the feed.] We need to get back to practicin' as soon as he's okay.

[she's surprised by his foresight, but she supposes if she'd already been here once, it would be easier to think of things like that. still, she's appreciative on behalf of the people she can imagine him helping]

That was really thoughtful of you. I bet a lot of people are going to be grateful.

[frontier_doktor]

I'm not really worried about it. [He admits.] I just want to help. I'm not a fighter, but I'm good at cleaning up messes.

[He doesn't like to hurt people in general.]

[frontier_doktor]

I would give him a day or so, enough so that he has time to feel decently frisky again.

[He rolls his "R" a little hard on the word "frisky".]

A whole day...? [That's disappointing. They have a race they need to practice for that coming up soon.] What about him forgettin' all he's learned so far?

[He turns back to check on Wriggles, who's steady breathing indicates it's probably fallen asleep.]

Didja meet any of the others? How far are they with trainin'?

[frontier_doktor]

I've only seen some as I passed. He's the first I've been introduced to personally.

But I wouldn't be concerned about him forgetting. Being in good shape is more important. [He pats Wander's small back.]

If you say so, Doctor. You know best! [He adds a small laugh.]

Did I train 'im too hard?

[frontier_doktor]

No, not at all. But you should give him a special reward for working so hard.

[He's just... not sure what it eats, from the scan.]

Now, what do grubs like for dessert?

[He scratches at his chin, deep in thought.]

I think they like meat? I know some bugs eat ol' food, but I dunno if Wriggles is the same.

[domesheriff]

Still, that doesn't make you less important. Fighters can't do their part without doctors around to help, too.

[because Linda knows firsthand how badly Chester's Mill could use a doctor right now. she might be able to fight, but she's very lucky she survived the meningitis outbreak to even be here]
